Hey, I'm Leticia, and I've set myself a goal: 10,000 subscribers on a brand new Substack in 10 months, with a paid subscription behind it.
The question underneath all of it is whether I can build a B2C publication and actually make money from it.
Almost, Always is a publication for women in their twenties and thirties, about living alone and figuring life out on your own terms.
I could have done the whole thing behind the scenes and written the case study in a year, once I already knew how it ended (or not, if it flops 😅). That version would be tidier and it would probably make me look better.
But where's the fun in that?
The trouble with writing anything up a year later is that it all gets explained with hindsight. Guesses start to look like strategy, and you never get to see how someone was actually thinking at the time.

On Substack, yes. Almost, Always is brand new, so the subscriber count starts at nothing.
I'm not starting from nothing everywhere, though. I have an existing email list for my B2C brand of around 1,500 people and a social media audience of about 20,000. Working out how much of that actually converts is one of the things I'm testing, and my guess is a lot less than you'd expect.

No, and that's rather the point. I don't know whether I'll get there.
